Mel Arnold

Registered Veterinary Technician

Mel Arnold joined Carbondale Animal Hospital as the Lead RVT in Fall 2022, bringing with her a strong passion for patient care, advanced veterinary medicine, and lifelong learning. Originally from the thumb area of Michigan, Mel relocated to Colorado in 2011 to attend the Veterinary Technology program at Colorado Mountain College. After graduating in 2014 and spending her first full year in the mountains, she quickly fell in love with Colorado’s outdoor lifestyle and knew it was where she wanted to stay.

Mel began her veterinary career at a rapidly growing hospital that continually expanded its medical services, giving her the opportunity to develop skills in advanced imaging, surgery, anesthesia, chemotherapy, and a wide range of nursing care techniques. Her professional passions center around advanced imaging, surgical support, and the nursing aspects of both routine and complex cases. She especially enjoys being part of collaborative medical teams that work together to improve patient outcomes.

One of Mel’s favorite parts of veterinary medicine is celebrating success stories alongside fellow team members and pet owners. She thrives in a profession that is constantly evolving through advancements in medicine and technology, appreciating that there is always something new to learn and new opportunities for growth. For Mel, the ever-changing nature of veterinary medicine keeps her inspired, challenged, and motivated every day.

Outside of work, Mel enjoys traveling abroad whenever she can and making the most of her extended weekends. Whether she’s hiking, skiing, taking spontaneous road trips across the U.S., or exploring somewhere new, she values time outdoors and opportunities to recharge beyond the valley.
